How does Zelo Action Keratin help my hair?
ZELO’s formulation repairs and restores the hair shaft injecting the cuticles with nutrients and then sealing the hair. 80% of our hair is made up of Keratin. Over processing, and inadequate shampoos and conditioners and exposure to the elements over time tear up the hair cuticle. Using ZELO will assist restore the loss of Keratin and nutrients making the hair stronger, healthier and shinier.
What can I expect after using ZELO’s Straightening System in my hair?
You can expect to take less time styling your hair. Your hair will be more manageable and it will be silkier, straighter and shiner. Hair may appear longer due to straightening.
My hair is colored, will Zelo remove color?
Zelo works best on chemically and color treated hair and will not remove color. However, we recommend a hair strand test on the posterior under layer of the prior to using the product on your entire hair. We also recommend iron temperature be no more than 380 fahrenheit
degrees (190 Celsious) especially those with bleached hair or highlights.
Should I scrub clarifying shampoo into scalp?
No, you should not scrub scalp with shampoo. Gently wash to remove all residuals. Use your fingers to penetrate the shampoo into the strands of your hair. Use a paddle brush or comb to detangle hair (if necessary), however, the shampoo does lightly condition the hair.
How dry should After using the Clarifying Shampoo Step 1, how dry should my hair be before applying the Action Keratin?
After washing your hair with the Clarifying Shampoo, Step 1, your hair should be left moist prior to applying the Action Keratin. If your hair is typically very dry or bleached we recommend that you leave hair very moist. If you have Afro textured hair we recommend towel drying only.
How much product should I apply?
Spray product until it is completely moistened with product. Pay close to attention to ends and around frame of face as these areas tend to need/absorb more products. When applying around face, carefully spray avoiding contact with eyes. Combing through the entire hair while moistened with product will aid in spreading the product and removing any excess.
Why does my hair feel moist/sticky while blow drying?
It is normal for the hair to waxy or appear dry after drying and in sometimes this can be confused for sticky. This texture is as a result of the keratin protein and nutrients in the hair. Most will go away after ironing and any remaining will go away after first wash.We recommend using only conditioner when first washed. Subsequent washing can use Shampoo and Conditioner.
Does ZELO’s Keratin Straightening System contain Formaldehyde or a derivative?
ZELO does not contain Formaldehyde or derivative. ZELO is unique because its lasting effect comes from its exclusive process system that works within the hair cuticle and also coats the hair on the outside.
Why are gloves provided, do I have to use them?
We highly recommend using the gloves provided during the application of the Action Keratin (step 2) process as they will help prevent dryness of the hands.
Will it work on my hair type?
ZELO will work on all hair types, including very thick hair. Hair that is chemically processed damaged, bleached, curly, wavy or unruly are the most dramatically impacted by ZELO’s distinctive properties.
How does Zelo help Afro Textured hair?
The effect on ethnic hair differs from person to person, however, those with more volume can expect a reduction in the volume of the hair, it will help manageability and in some cases will straighten hair. Zelo is especially helpful for those wanting to wear their hair natural without a relaxer. Zelo also works well over a chemical relaxer adding Keratin, nutrients that make hair feel and look, softer, silkier and extending the life of the relaxer in the hair and provide more movement in hair.
Will one application be sufficient for my hair?
There is enough for one application which is enough for long or thick hair. After moistening each strand with product, remove excess with fine tooth comb and apply to new strand. Do not reapply to strands that were already moistened with product.
I have very sensitive skin and scalp; will the ingredients be irritating to my skin or scalp?
Zelo is not applied directly to skin or scalp. Zelo should be applied as noted in the instructions directly to the hair strand not the root. You can perform a strand test to ensure you will not have a reaction. However, for hyper-sensitive individuals we fully recommend you obtain the advice of a physician, if needed.
Do I have to use a specific iron?
No specific iron is required; any iron will work with Zelo. The iron temperature used should not be more than 380 fahrenheit degrees (190 Celsious).
How many times should I pass the iron through my hair?
It is not necessary to pass the iron through the hair repeatedly. Color treated hair should not exceed more than 4 times on each strand.
Can I apply ZELO to my hair if I am pregnant or nursing?
Although there is no evidence to support the Keratin Straightening System being harmful, we recommend you obtain the advice of your physician.
Does ZELO provide thermal protection?
Yes, ZELO contains ingredients which provide protection from UV rays.
Can ZELO be applied to children’s hair?
Although there is no evidence to support the Keratin Straightening System being harmful, we recommend you obtain the advice of your physician.
Can I color or highlight my hair before treatment?
ZELO will not conflict with other hair treatments. Color may be applied before or after, however, we recommend after.
How long after applying ZELO do I have to wait before washing my hair?
You can wash your hair the same day as treatment. There is no need to wait to wash your hair. We recommend using only conditioner when first washed. Subsequent washing can use Shampoo and Conditioner.
How long do I have to wait before I can pin or pull my hair back?
It is not necessary to wait before pining or pulling hair back, no impression will be made on hair.
Will ZELO be affective on virgin hair?
ZELO is affective on virgin hair.
How long will the straightening last in my hair?
The results will last up to 12 weeks. Results vary and will depend greatly on the care given, lifestyle and type of hair. Using a Keratin, salt and sulfate free shampoo will extend the life of the ZELO treatment.
Do I have to use a specific Shampoo or Conditioner after using the ZELO treatment?
You can use any Shampoo or Conditioner. However, we highly recommend preserving the treatment by using ZELO’s Keratin Shampoo and Conditioner as it helps to maintain the straightening, shine and adds Keratin and nutrients as you wash. ZELO’s shampoo is salt and sulfate free, lathers and also preserves color, if any. The intensive care conditioner allows easy manageability and softer hair. Blended with exotic nutrients and vitamins they provide quality after care for your hair.
Will chlorinated water (pool) or salt water (ocean) affect the results of ZELO’s Keratin Straightening System?
Yes, swimming in pool or in ocean water will diminish the effect of Keratin treatment.
Can I re-apply on new hair growth only?
ZELO should be re-applied to entire head not just new hair growth. Build up of Keratin will only help the hair.
Will ZELO smell, smoke or burn my eyes?
ZELO will not smoke, smell or burn eyes when used as directed. ZELO works the same way as it would in a salon and much like a hair dye. It is recommended to apply in a well-ventilated room; hair must be blown and ironed away from the face and eyes. You may see vapor coming from the iron while drying or ironing.
What should I do if I get ZELO in my eyes?
Wash with water immediately and if it continues seek the advice of a physician.
I want to cut my hair, should I cut it before or after ZELO’s treatment?
As hair will be straight and appearing longer, it is recommended that you cut after applying treatment.
